The closing ceremonies for the 2010 Vancover Olympics will take place tonight, the past two weeks have gone by so fast. The past two weeks have been a whirl wind of emotions. Looking back to the last Olympics four years ago in Torino, I sat on the blue coach, very pregnant and waiting for our baby to come into the world. I think the one thing that kept me cool, calm and collect four years ago on that blue coach were the Olympics. Finally on February 22nd I was in the hospital getting ready to be induced. While laying there in a hospital bed, I sat there watching the Olympics...keeping me calm and ready to deliver a baby. On February 23rd, we were blessed with a healthy baby girl and took her home less than 24 hours later.....I don't remember watching the Olympics after that.
Now four years later, on Februry 10th we were back to the hospital (two days before the opening ceremonies of the Olympics)...but to have surgery on our little bobina. She was in the hospital for about a day and ahalf and her recovery has been slow. I found myself now four years later laying next to her in our bed telling her all about four years ago and teaching her about the olympics and trying to get her excited while she lay in pain. It was nice to spend that time with her during such a special event. We layed there cheering Lindsey Vonn on and being so happy when she won the gold, as well as watching Sean White and many others. The Olympic Winter Games is such a great time when you feel like the entire world is coming together. What a great feeling! There were sad times during the Olympics, the death of luger Nodar Kumaritashvili, at only the age of 21 and seeing his death on television....sends sadness straight to your heart. Then the death of Joannie Rochette's mother who saddly died of a heart attack on her way to Vancouver to watch her daughter, she ends up winning the bronze....very emotional. There were so many highs and lows, it was incredible. I guess I hold a special place in my heart for the 2010 Olympic Games; my mother having been born in British Columbia (Victoria-Capital of BC) I was happy for the Canadians when they won, I do hold a special place in my heart for Canada. So as I sit here watching the closing ceremonies, I think in another four years when I sit here cheering Lindsey Vonn on again, my eight year old daughter will be here sitting right next to me......WOW! Thank you to the athletes (the ones I do admire) for another great Olympics, looking forward to seeing you again in four years.

My Little Olympian!
It was four years ago when I was sitting on the couch watching the Olympics and at any moment ready to have my little Bobina! The 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics bring back some great memories that I have during that time! It is now four years later and our little Bobina just had surgery on her neck to remove a "Intramuscular Hemangioma" and she has been having a tough week. We have been lying in bed watching the Olympics and I have been telling her about when she was born and how special it was! She has been a real trooper through all this, I'm very proud of her, it's so hard to watch your child when they are in this much pain. She will be four on Tuesday and I can't believe how fast time can go by, we need to stop each day for a few minutes and reflect on our health and appreciate the live we have.
